2026-2027 Primary and Kindergarten Enrollment Ages Announced: How Old Is Your Child, and Which Grade Will They Be in?
In the new academic year, which closely concerns millions of parents, the mandatory registration, postponement, and petition rights for children based on their birth dates and monthly development have been clarified one by one. Here is the registration guide month by month!
The procedures to be followed according to the age of the children in the new academic year are listed as follows:
* No Postponement for Mandatory Groups (March 2020 and Before): It is completely mandatory for children aged 78 months and older to start primary school. There is absolutely no right to postpone registration for this age group. * RAM Report Required (April – September 2020): It is mandatory for children aged 72-77 months to start primary school. However, parents who think their child is not yet ready can postpone registration by obtaining a RAM (Guidance and Research Center) report. * Postponement with Petition Only (October – December 2020): A RAM report is not required for children aged 69-71 months. Parents can easily postpone primary school registration with a written petition to the school. * Optional Early Enrollment (January – March 2021): Children aged 66-68 months are not required to start school. Parents who wish for their child to start early can register by submitting a petition. * Those Not Eligible for Enrollment: Children born in April 2021 or later are not eligible for primary school; those born in October 2023 or later are not eligible for preschool (kindergarten/nursery). How Will the Process Work?
Parents who wish to postpone enrollment or enroll early must apply in person to the relevant school administration offices when the enrollment period officially begins. Experts warn parents to carefully calculate their children's birth dates and months.
